  1. I am no expert and don't really know how to tell, just I've had these updates from MetroPCS from fourth dimension to time with no trouble.

I gauge I figured that if it comes on when I open up the telephone, and I didn't click on a link to make it happen, either information technology's really from MetroPCS or the phones already been hacked.

Being non an expert, that is simply the way I figure it, and I could be totally incorrect.

I also subscribe to a fee based Anti-Malware app, and hopefully it will be aware of threats.

I don't continue much personal info on the phone, and definitely don't use it to pay annihilation. I effigy any app can be hacked, and if it has access to my bank account, it'southward dangerous. Something as innocent as that Starbucks account tin drain your account if a hacker cracks Starbucks.

  2. I've never heard of anything hijacking the actual software update organisation. The only precaution I can think of is that if something like that pops up I'd want to bank check it is real and non but a pop-up that'due south disguising itself as an update (similar those simulated malware warning popup ads, but a flake smarter). Can you still get into the phone's Settings? I assume you tin, in which case yous tin go to the "software update" settings and see whether it tells y'all that you take an update available. If you can see the update at that place then I'd be sure it's real: as Notes says, if they've managed to subvert that then they own your phone already, in which case why raise your suspicions with an update anyway?

At that place is some kind of thing that hacks google apps also i have metro also and its hack also so. In short if there smart or computer savvy your upwardly the crepitate they said cont tact the maker of your phone to become a ameliorate thought if your hacked have keen day
  4. Joedatuknow

O for got im no tecky but if tou experience like something aint correct amend get it looked at
  5. No, not really. Many people spring to the conclusion that their phone has been hacked when something doesn't work the mode the expect, or when they see things they don't understand. When telephone does exhibit some form of security effect, 99.9% of the time it's because the user has installed something unsafe or the Google business relationship has been cracked -- either by using easy passwords or sharing them with someone else.

A true hack into a mobile device is so rare, it tin be considered not-existent.

  6. If information technology comes from your carrier, and its for your telephone, it'southward probably Allright.
  7. Alexenferman

If updates were really altered, the recovery would decline to install it because it checks for a signature, particularly on carrier phones, which cannot be bootloader unlocked.
  8. Monstricide

Yes, if it really comes from your carrier it should exist fine.
